USPS on Ellen DeGeneris Show – 12 Days of Christmas

January 4, 2014 by admin

The USPS played the role of sponsor on the Ellen DeGeneres Show this 2013 Christmas Season.  Famous for her “Beat the Clock” style of games played with guests and audience members, the USPS jumped right in with Ellen, playing a hilarious game they called… Rain, Sleet or Oh No!  See the audience member in the video below race against time to deliver a package through 5 major US cities…USPS style!

In the Oprah tradition, being an audience member on the Ellen Show can be highly rewarding…if not profitable.  While DeGeneres and her show sponsors give away lots of lavish prizes on almost every shown…just for being there…the 12 Days of Giveaways is a special annual tradition. And being in the audience on any of those 12 Days is a highly sought after spot.  On the first day alone, a bountiful lot of gifts worth $2400 was bestowed on audience members.

Starting off with small gifts with big price tags. With gift cards from Restaurant.com, PS Penny and a $300 gift card from Retail Me Not. The giving didn’t stop there as the audience each got on iPad 2 and a beats Dr Dre headphones, an iHome Ipad digital power set, and a slew of “red products” in honor of World Aids Day on Thursday.

Ellen’s 12 Days of Giveaways shows are some of the most popular episodes of the entire year. Watching to see what are the latest gifts and new gadgets, the show always gifts some great ideas on what could be given to friends and family for the holidays. Seeing people get stuffed with presents…over and over… as they all scream with joy and excitement…makes for a feel good event…just like Christmas morning.

USPS Website Goes Green

November 26, 2009 by admin

The U.S. Postal Service just released new version of its green oriented website, USPS.com/green.  Though not a new (original green site launched 2008) or a replacement for the main USPS.com site, the revamped green site is designed as an alternative appealing to those passionate about protecting our environment.

Free access to 100 percent recyclable Priority Mail and Express Mail packaging supplies… deliverable at zero cost to your doorstep is a popular feature.   In fact, the USPS is the only shipping and mailing entity in the US certified to be Cradle to Cradle™ green packaging for its impact to the environmental and human health standards.  In fact, they eliminated over 15,000 tons of carbon emissions last year. That’s equal to a year’s worth of driving for 2,747 average vehicles.

The old familiar neighborhood mail truck may be transforming soon. Smith Electric Vehicles will be joint venturing with AM General on the creation of a new USPS “Long Life” electric vehicle. AM General is building the chassis for the prototype and Smith is providing the electric powertrain.

The currently in use version of the LLV was developed by Grumman in the 1980s and utilized a GM 2.2-liter four cylinder engine. The new prototype however, is a battery powered.  [Read More]
